 and great fun riding round the outside of R1's at track days!


 NO ground clearance.
 
 we had to run standard footpegs ( controlled class..stock 'genuine parts' everything except exhaust which was a controlled Micron item) but we all cut the pegs in half ( had to be fitted, didn't say you couldn't cut them!) even then, you ground your toes!  I've got 2 pairs of those boots upstairs, both with big holes in them!
 
 Won 2 championships on that thing.  I also crashed my brains out at Oulton Park... but they were cheap enough to rebuild. Changed the gearbox oil once,...ran the same standard air filter for 2 years.  Bikes like this teach you about maintaining momentum, not braking, and race craft.  Everyone was on the same bike ( although I know of some riders running some mods/fettled engines...who are now proffessional racers! cheats do prosper it seems) so the racing was great.
 
 I'd buy it back today if I knew where it was!
 
 you can also tell that I was an ex motoX racer, and 2 stroke rider...
 the fingers on the clutch!...and yeah, I still slip the clutch to get out of corners quicker these days too!  you know, when you need to get a hustle on and the engine aint spinning enough
 
 
 I loved that corner,...full gas in top gear,...they have put a chicane in now to slow riders down. Was a man's corner!

nah...the CB5 doesn't have enough power...its all about keeping momentum and only ever toucvhing the brake when you absolutely need too.

same corner from a different angle, this time on a CBR600 me in second place, setting the fastest lap of the race!

had to feather the throttle a bit on the 6,...and use counter steer to haul it over to go thru the next lef corner!
